ChillOne is back, but is his info a
chilly ruse?
The man who helped spoil Survivor Amazon has returned
with a whole slew of new spoilers. ChillOne took another vacation to
the Survivor filming site to get the latest scoop on Survivor All Stars.
Explained below is a list of the spoilers. Are they true? Most people
are in five camps:
1) ChillOne's source is an MB plant used to combat "the enemy"
(aka: spoiler sites).
2) ChillOne's information is somewhat true (just like his Amazon info).
3) ChillOne took SurvivorNews.net's early reports and wrote a nice story
to help sell his book.
4) ChillOne has just made the biggest spoiling coup ever.
5) ChillOne is really Howard Dean and is trying to get votes from anywhere.
Below, we take a brief look at some of the SPOILERS, what
they mean, and why they might not be true.
You can read ChillOne's side of the story at http://www.thechillone.com
CHILLONE'S FIRST SOURCES
Chillone first talks with a few guides. He is taken throughout the area
by boat, as they point out the islands where the tribes lived. Here's
what the sources said:
* On Mogo Mogo: (Colby, Jenna M, Kathy, Lex, Rich,
and Shii Ann) “This tribe does not fair so well,” UBDII
quipped.
“At what, the challenges?”
“Well, I’m not sure exactly. I just remember hearing something
about the tribe here from one of the locals working for the All-Stars
crew.”
* On one of the challenges: "The contestants
had to collect bamboo in the water, bring it to shore, and build some
sort of a ladder on the beach.”
* On the first boot: “Yes, I saw some of the
first challenges. I remember that Ethan was missing,” Umberto
replied. (looks like Ethan may be the first/early boot). NOTE: ChillOne
has updated
his claims to say Tina goes first, Ethan second.
* On the gross food challenge: “Oh yeah,”
Chico replied in Spanish. “I heard they make them eat bugs and
worms.”
* On Rupert: They refer to Rupert as the "caveman"
(for his beard, of course). “I think you’ll be happy to
know that Caveman is around for a while,” he said.
MAIN SOURCE
ChillOne moves on to a meeting with his main source whom he calls,
"The Man." Here's what the source said:
* On the start: “Well, before the game began,
they marched the contestants around Contadora in
blindfolds. They got escorted to their rooms and were told not to leave
until they were
summoned."
* Injuries during filming: “No, but one of the
females was very worried about a sick family member. She ended up quitting
the game because of this.”
* Does anyone dominate in the challenges? “Yes,
Rupert is quite strong and does well.”
* How do the other previous winners of Survivor do?
“You will not see a repeat Survivor winner on All-Stars. In fact,
Ethan is voted off first.”
* The final 7? ChillOne asks for the boot order, the
man gives him the Final 7 and writes the names down. Amber, Rob
M, Jenna L, Rupert, Big Tom, Shii Ann, and Alicia.
* Chillone deduces Final 4 and Final 2: Amber, Rob
M, Jenna L, and Rupert must be the Final 4! And Amber and Rob M
are the Final 2!
WHY CHILLONE MIGHT BE WRONG
First of all, let's give ChillOne credit. He's got guts to put his
credibility on the line. But, there are numerous reasons why ChillOne's
information could be wrong, the least being he needs to sell a book.
* Why on earth would someone tell him this? What does
he have to gain? Why would this source risk a $5 million penalty to
tell some guy who wants to profit from a book?
* Where are the details? Much of
ChillOne's report is specific in setting detail and narrative, but lacking
detail on the actual spoilers. If I had 15 minutes with these people,
I would grill them more than Burger King whoppers. Granted, he probably
wanted to be careful, but for gosh sakes, ask about some details that
surround events in the game. (Merge info, more detailed accounts of
the challenges and twists, conflicts, voting, tribal councils....etc.)
* He was slightly wrong before. ChillOne's Amazon
information was off. He got the final four wrong. He had Daniel going
first, even after vidcap evidence proved Ryan would be the first boot.
As Krautboy of SurvivorBlows points out: "ChillOne believed his
sources blindly, without considering other spoiler information. He may
have learned his lesson...but we'll have to wait and see."
* Did he copy the info? His information didn't differ
much from SurvivorNews.net's early reports. It easily could have been
concocted to look similar.
* ChillOne's ego -- Apparently, Mark Burnett and his
security forces have a photo of ChillOne as one of the "spoilers
most wanted." The main source tells ChillOne, “Well, Survivor
security has a list of people to be on the lookout for, and you are
on it. Your photo, that is. People were told not to tell you anything.
They said you wrote a book.” ... This is fishy. Does MB really
care about a fan who is read by 1,000-some people on the Internet?
* ChillOne might have been duped. MB might be using
him as a plant to throw off spoiler sites. Then again, Jeff Probst told
a reporter in a recent article that Internet spoilers might kill reality
TV shows like Survivor. So maybe they are worried.
Probst says in
this article: "The Internet and the accessibility to information
has made it very difficult to do shows like Survivor. And it wouldn't
surprise me if ultimately it led to the demise of our show at some point.
Sooner or later you cannot combat people who betray you. We have a crew
of 400 people, and everybody tells somebody something. I definitely
believe that. Once you spread information like that and there's money
to be made or fame to be had - 'Hey I know something you don't know,
listen to this' - all we can do, honestly, is counter it with
our own misinformation."
WHAT CHILLONE SAYS
"If my intel proves wrong, I can live with it. After all,
like a good Survivor contestant I had played the game as best I could.
I had stood up against the great wall of security MB had built to cover
his ASS, and I didn’t back down. And I had scored some big triumphs.
I had brought back useful and provocative intel, enough to get the spoiler
pundits debating ChillOne again. We’ll all be watching to see
how it plays out, including me. It’s all part of the chess match
with MB and SEG, and I will not let up until all the pieces are off
the table. I hope that day never comes!"
ONE LAST NOTE: SHOULD WE ROOT AGAINST CHILLONE'S
INFO?
Granted, spoilers love spoiling the show, but Chillone
might have taken all of the mystery and detective work for himself.
The fun of spoiling the show (analyzing vidcaps and rumors and coming
up with the best guess as to what's going to happen) might be less enjoyable
if we know the exact boot order.
We haven't had a show completely spoiled. Even in Australia, Amazon,
and Pearl Islands, we were wrong on numerous boots. We never had MB
completely licked. Don't worry, there's still plenty of
mystery left as we watch the All Stars claw at each other.
And for gosh sakes, Amber better not win. (Sorry, I just
had to get that in.)
